My 4th of July Message

I think we should all think about Jesus and his words this July 4th.  Let's think of all the soldiers who took the oath that Jesus told us not to take, so they could render evil against those he told us not to render evil upon, so we could be safe to lay up treasure on earth that Jesus told us not to lay up.

And let's think of all the politicians and judges who built our prison industrial complex and all those in those prisons that Jesus told us to "judge not."  And lets think of all the preachers and all the churches who make the death penalty politically acceptable for those we kill in spite of Jesus' admonition to "condemn not."  Let us think of all those who feel worthy to throw the first stone.   And let's think of all the law students and all those who go to law in spite of Jesus saying, "go not to law."

Let's think about the Law of Moses (openly abrogated by Jesus) monument displayed on the Texas State Capitol grounds and why the Law of Jesus is not represented on those same grounds in this heavily Christian state.

Yes, let's think about the words of Jesus this July 4th.
